OKL STREET LIBRARY BRINGS HOPE TO REMOTE TIMOR LESTE BORDER REGION

Empowering Communities Through Literacy Education (doc. OKL)

LibraryPost.com Malaka | In the midst of the 2025 Christmas holiday season, OKL Street Library has launched its Cornerstone Adventure program, bringing hope to coastal kids and teenagers in the remote Timor Leste border region. The program focuses on literacy education, opening up opportunities for young people to achieve a brighter future.

For several years, OKL Street Library has been a leading organization promoting literacy education in remote areas. With Cornerstone Adventure, OKL Street Library aims to demonstrate its commitment to driving social change through literacy education in underserved communities.

Improving Education Quality

The OKL Street Library Cornerstone Adventure program, which ran from December 22-27, 2025, included activities such as English Literacy Class, Writing and Reading Class, Kids Self-Developing, Public Speaking Class, Spiritual Literacy, and Kids Creativity. Children and teenagers enthusiastically participated in the program, which aimed to improve their English language skills, develop their potential, and nurture their spiritual growth.

“This program is very beneficial for our children,” said a local resident, expressing gratitude for OKL Street Library’s presence in Tahak Debunaruk.

The program is part of OKL Street Library’s Smartastic Kids and Teens Club, which focuses on developing literacy education for children and teenagers in remote areas. The program is expected to raise awareness about the importance of education and literacy among local communities.

Bridging the Education Gap

In the long term, OKL Street Library hopes to improve education quality in remote areas and reduce the education gap between urban and rural areas. This will give people in underserved communities equal opportunities to achieve a brighter future.

“Education is the key to changing one’s fate,” said an OKL Street Library representative. “We want to help children and teenagers in remote areas access quality education that nurtures their mind, heart, and spirit.”
