Librarypost.com Malaka, Indonesia — Oktavianus Klau Lekik, a prominent Social Entrepreneur and the founder of OKL Foundation, has officially unveiled his monumental biographical narrative titled “CIGARETTE BUTT FIRE.” The work chronicles the extraordinary transformation of a son of the Malaka borderlands, navigating the depths of extreme poverty to reach the pinnacle of global intellectual discourse at Harvard University (2025) and the University of Oxford (2026).

“CIGARETTE BUTT FIRE” is more than a personal memoir; it is a manifesto on Community Resilience. Through LibraryPost.com, Oktavianus dissects how a traumatic past, once scavenging cigarette butts for fire to survive as a laundry laborer has been transmuted into a powerful engine to empower 3.500 survivors of the 2021 Seroja Cyclone through the “10 Pillars of Literacy” at the OKL Street Library.

“This book is my sacred promise to my ancestors and the children of the borderlands. The fire I once used to cook raw rice from discarded cigarette butts has now evolved into an intellectual torch recognized by the world’s elite institutions,” stated Oktavianus Klau Lekik.

Intellectual Transformation & Global Validation

A graduate of the Master’s program in Media and Communication at Airlangga University, Oktavianus has built a formidable international academic portfolio, including:

  • Alumni of ECPR Summer School at Leiden University, Netherlands (2019).
  • Alumni of Media Studies Winter School at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) (2020).
  • Selected Research Presenter at the Harvard Faculty Club, Massachusetts, USA (2025).
  • Selected Research Presenter at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, United Kingdom (March 2026).

Orchestrating Humanity at the Frontier

Through the OKL Foundation, Oktavianus has successfully managed a sustainable literacy ecosystem in the Indonesia-Timor Leste border region. Since 2019, he has mobilized dozens of volunteers to protect vulnerable groups, including the elderly, people with disabilities, and children of migrant workers, proving that a Social Entrepreneur must bridge global industrial discipline with grassroots empathy.

Currently, Oktavianus is finalizing the complete manuscript (±34,000 words) and is open to strategic collaborations with major national and international publishers to bring this “Fire from the Frontier” to the global literary market. (By Team Editor)
