OKL-Library.com Jakarta | The European Union (EU) will once again hold its “Europe on Screen” (EoS) Film Festival, scheduled to take place from 7 – 16 June 2024. To support EoS 2024, a pre – festival programme titled “Road to EoS 2024” is being held in several cities: Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Medan, Bandung and Jakarta. Road to EoS is a series of screening of films which had been shown in previous editions of EoS. Communities in these cities can attend this event free of charge.

“Road to EoS 2024 serves as a warm-up session for film enthusiast in Indonesia as the EoS 2024 Film Festival is just around the corner, while also building their excitement about the films that will be shown at EoS 2024,” said Nauval Yazid, Festival Co – Director of EoS 2024, (Jakarta, 7/5/2024).

To date, Road to EoS 2024 has been held in several cities. In Surabaya, it was held at IFI Surabaya and Wisma Jerman on 19-20 April 2024, screening films “Any Day Now” (Finland, 2020) and “My Big Night” (Spain, 2015). Nauval Yazid was present to open the event in Surabaya and led a question-and- answer session with the audience. This year, the audience’s enthusiasm was palpable; they not only came from Surabaya but also from its satellite cities such as Malang, Sidoarjo, and others.

Road to EoS 2024 Yogyakarta was held at IFI Yogyakarta on 4 May 2024, screening films “My Grand Father’s Demons” (Portugal, 2022), “Mandibles” (France, 2020) and “Mermaids Don’t Cry” (Austria, 2022). The film screenings were followed by lively talk with Meninaputri Wismurti, EOS 2024 Festival Co-Director, discussing the films and the film industry in Europe. Road to EoS 2024 in Yogyakarta continued with a public lecture on film festivals in Europe, held in collaboration with the Indonesian Institute of the Arts in Yogyakarta. In this public lecture, Meninaputri Wismurti also introduced and discussed about Europe on Screen.
